SEC Championship Game:   LSU over Tennessee

10 reasons why college football is better (even on Super Bowl Sunday)

Saturday Down South gives us 10 reasons why college football is better (even on Super Bowl Sunday). Many fans take time out to watch most of a college football game on Saturday, but tend to devote just five minutes or so to the end of an NFL game to see who wins. Kevin Duffey at SDS gives us ten good reasons why that is the case.

Pac-12 to Overtake SEC…..Don’t Bet on It

Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports posted today, “The Pac-12 should be the premier conference in college football in 2014. To quote Jim Morrison, the West is the best.”  Even if Forde’s prediction for 2014 were to come true, which it probably won’t………one year does not a College Football dynasty make.   The fact that the last time a Pacific Twelve team won a BCS Championship was 2005, and even then it was vacated speaks for itself, when the number of SEC teams taking the Crystal Bowl Trophy home to display in their stadium has been NINE since 1998.  (Tennessee, LSU, Florida, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Alabama, Alabama).  It’s not even a close race.  However, perhaps Forde just needs something to write about.

Hotty Toddy: A Rebel Yell in Omaha.

The Ole Miss Rebels became the 2nd SEC team to punch their ticket to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska this year as they beat the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette by a score of 10-4 on the road.  Sikes Orvis and Austin Anderson both homered to power Ole Miss past the Cajuns.  It is the Rebels’ first trip to the College World Series since 1972.
